1711. In major IT boost, Union minister Scindia launches direct weekly train between Bengaluru, Gwalior
- In a major boost to IT aspirants, Union Minister on 26 June, 2025. inaugurated a new direct train service linking Gwalior to Bengaluru. The launch event took place at the Gwalior Railway Station.
- The new 30-hour service will greatly ease travel for IT aspirants, students, job seekers, and families who earlier had to travel via Kota, Bina, or Bhopal, adding 6–8 extra hours to their journey.
- The train will halt at Shivpuri, Guna, Ashok Nagar, Bina, Vidisha, and Bhopal, enhancing connectivity for multiple districts.
1712. India Builds 1st Wildlife Corridor On Delhi-Mumbai Expressway; Eco-Friendly Route Near Rajaji National Park
- On June 27, 2025, NHAI unveiled a 12 kilometre wildlife corridor along the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, featuring five elevated overpasses and a 1.2 km underpass is India’s first dedicated animal crossing on a national highway designed for tigers, bears, elephants and other wildlife.
- Ranthambore buffer zone with guidance from the Wildlife Institute and MoEF, the corridor includes sunken roadway sections, sound walls and extensive eco-friendly measures like planting 35,000 trees, installing rainwater harvesting every 500m and using drip irrigation blending infrastructure with conservation.
- Immediate Benefits to Wildlife Even before its inauguration, camera traps captured tigers and bears using the crossings. Safety features like perimeter walls and on site oversight every 200 m prevented any wildlife vehicle incidents during construction.

1713. India exports first consignment of rose-scented litchi from Pathankot to Qatar
- In a boost to India’s horticultural exports, the first consignment of rose-scented litchi from Pathankot, Punjab, was flagged off to Doha, Qatar, on 27 June 2025.
- The one-metric-tonne consignment marks a major milestone for India’s agri-export sector and was facilitated by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, in collaboration with the Punjab Horticulture Department.
- According to the National Horticulture Board, Punjab produced 71,490 metric tonnes of litchi in FY 2023–24, contributing over 12% to India’s total litchi output. During the same period, India exported 639.53 metric tonnes of litchi.

1714. India inducts 'Adamya', first Fast Patrol Vessel under 08-FPV project: All you need to know about it
- On June 26, 2025, India Coast Guard inducted ICGS Adamya the first in a fleet of eight fast patrol vessels built by Goa Shipyard Ltd under the “08‑FPV” project.
- A proud stride for “Atmanirbhar Bharat” With over 60 % indigenous content, including the first ever Indian made gearboxes and controllable pitch propellers, Adamya exemplifies India’s growing self-reliance in shipbuilding.
- The vessel features cutting edge systems, a 30 mm CRN‑91 naval gun, two stabilized remote control 12.7 mm guns and integrated bridge, platform and power management systems enhancing capabilities in law enforcement, coastal surveillance, search and rescue.
1715. Railways Implements Key Reforms to Enhance Safety and Efficiency for Train Controllers
- The Railway Ministry has introduced reforms to enhance train operations' safety and improve train controllers' working conditions with the aim of aligning the Railway Traffic Control Organisation with global best practices.
- Controllers must serve at least three years in the control office to gain domain knowledge and are required to undergo refresher courses every five years, including simulator-based and scenario-driven learning modules.
- A circular dated June 25, 2025, addressed to all zones, stated that key initiatives were taken based on a six-member committee's recommendations formed on August 27, 2024.
- Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) on August 25, 2024 had highlighted issues such as pay scale, vacancies, recruitment processes, and lack of basic amenities affecting train controllers.
1716. Arunachal: Education milestone reached as girls' school opens near China border
- On June 26, 2025, a Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) was inaugurated in Lable Moring, Payeng Circle, Upper Subansiri district, Arunachal Pradesh, near the Indo-China border, to provide free education and boarding for girls from disadvantaged communities.
- Labour, IPR, and Industries Minister officiated the opening, with Rolen Dagam and Deputy Commissioner as guests, highlighting the school’s role in empowering tribal girls in a remote region.
- The Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya program operates across India as part of efforts to bridge gender and social gaps in education, particularly in rural and underserved regions. The new facility in Upper Subansiri represents the latest expansion of this initiative into strategic border areas of the northeast.

1717. Bengaluru firm develops drone armed with AK-203 that can fire at targets from the air: Watch video
- On June 26, 2025, it was reported that Bengaluru-based defence company BSS Alliance developed India’s first AI-powered lethal weapon system and tested it in collaboration with the Indian Army.
- The AI-enabled platform, equipped with an Israeli Negev LMG and advanced sensors, can autonomously detect, target, and engage threats up to 600 meters away using a remote interface. It was tested in Roorkee and at high-altitude locations.
- The trial marks a major step under India’s AI defence strategy and Make in India program, with ₹100 crore allocated annually for AI-based defence projects, promoting indigenous defence technologies and reducing import dependency.
1718. India sends its first astronaut into space in 41 years
- On June 25, 2025, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla becomes the second Indian to travel to space and the first Indian to visit NASA’s International Space Station, marking India’s return to space after 41 years.
- The Axiom-4 mission launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center with a four member international crew, including astronauts from India, Poland, and Hungary in collaboration with NASA, ISRO, ESA and SpaceX.
- Shukla’s journey, funded by ISRO with ₹500 crore is seen as a stepping stone for India’s future space goals including its first human spaceflight in 2027, a space station by 2035 and a Moon mission by 2040.

1719. West Bengal Renewable Energy Department Guides Three Kolkata Colleges to Turn Waste into Fuel
- On June 26, 2025, it was reported that NRS Medical College, Calcutta Pavlov Hospital, and Adyapeath Annada Polytechnic College in Kolkata launched pilot biogas plants to convert kitchen waste into fuel for their canteens.
- The projects, guided by the West Bengal Renewable Energy Department, process 250–300 kg of daily kitchen waste, generating 15–25 cubic meters of biogas, helping reduce LPG usage and fuel costs.
- The West Bengal Health Department announced plans to expand the biogas initiative to other hospitals after the successful results at NRS and Pavlov hospitals.
1720. Ministry of Railways introduces key reforms for train controllers
- In a significant move to ensure safety of train operations, the Railway Ministry on June 25, 2025 announced some key reforms for enhancing the functioning and working conditions of train controllers.
- A senior railway official said, "Only experienced and well-performing traffic inspectors and station masters with good service records will be chosen as train controllers. They must serve at least three years in the control office to gain domain expertise and ensure efficient operations."
- The Ministry has also decided to introduce measures such as yoga sessions, counselling and periodic health check-ups to address the high-stress nature of the job.
